The High Tech Center Training Unit of the
California Community Colleges is a state-of-the-art training and support
facility for community college faculty wishing to acquire or improve
teaching skills, methodologies, and pedagogy in Assistive and
Instructional Computer Technology. The Center supports Assistive
Computer Technology programs at one-hundred fourteen California
community colleges. More than seven thousand students with disabilities
are currently enrolled in High Tech Center programs state-wide.
Now entering its twelth year of operation, the High Tech Center Training
Unit carries out extensive research, testing and evaluation of new and
emerging technologies of potential benefit to persons with disabilities.
The Center's findings are made available through a series of
continuously evolving trainings and workshops attended each year by
hundreds of California community college faculty.
The High Tech Center Training Unit is committed
to providing training and support to High Tech Center sites at each of
California's community college and community college satellite centers.
Site visits provide an opportunity for HTCTU trainers to visit a campus
and work directly with faculty and staff to answer questions and provide
suggestions for meeting the computer access needs of students with
disabilities.
